I have to laugh. A Vancouver friend was talking about the extreme rain (pineapple express) she was experiencing a couple of days ago. I said, crap, we are in for it. Then yesterday, a different Vancouver friend told me the prairies of Canada were getting plastered in snow yesterday. I replied “I know. We’ve got the heavy, wet version going on here right now.” Luckily, we kept the electric on. It was a great day to make soup. ---

1. Please stay safe. 2. Nice if you to deliver hot drinks to your neighbour without power. Fortunate that the lack of power was short-lived, if it was. 3. Saw pictures of the storm on the news and (1) felt bad for the people and (2) was glad we have not yet had this weather here. I’ve driven in a lot of blizzards. I prefer eating them. ---

It’s nice that you’re enjoying summer now, and even your winters are quite mild. But OTOH, even your smallest insects are deadly, and you have “birds” like the emu and the cassowary that are essentially living dinosaurs that will tear you apart as soon as look at you. Plus, you have to spend your whole life upside down. True. Take a look at the moon, and compare it to normal pictures. To quote the great sage Bugs Bunny, “it’s not upside down, doc. _ **You** _ are!” 😉 P.S.- I would truly love to visit Australia! 🙂 ---

We’re well over halfway to our average winter snowfall, with plenty of winter left. Of course, since the average for the season is only about 9 inches, that still isn’t a whole lot. When did the National Weather Service start announcing winter weather advisories for an inch of snow or less? Next thing you know, they’ll be naming these “events”. “Barely Evident Dusting Helena is due to roar through the area overnight.” ---

Maybe they’re adopting the Seattle model, where the third flake to hit the ground triggers the “Snowpocalypse” alarm. Granted, the combination of hills and drivers who aren’t used to snow\* leads to some dramatic results — but that’s hardly the weather’s fault. \* Unfortunately, a lot of them don’t seem to be able to drive in the rain either. ---

The next COVID headline from Australia will relate to some European and American tourists with tennis rackets, who have come out here for the guaranteed $100k even if losing 6-0 6-0 in the first round, complaining that under the quarantine regimes they didn’t realise would be enforced when they signed up, complaining they can’t practice and socialise like they consider their right and privilege of the circuit. They really like their tennis in Melbourne but the city having spent 4 months in a lockdown the locals won’t have much sympathy for these self-entitled brats and if they aren’t compliant with Overlord Daniel will be on a plane outwards quick-smart else be found floating in the Yarra. ---
