Let me say first that I consider Cormac McCarthy to be Americas greatest living author, and \*\*Blood Meridian \*\*to easily be his finest book.

Apparently, Hollywood has finally caught on to him too, thanks in large part to the Coen Brothers phenomenal treatment of **No Country For Old Men** and Oprah’s freak-out over **The Road**.

However, as much as I would LOVE to see Blood Meridian on the big screen, I cannot believe that this movie could possibly be made in a way that would do even passing justice to the book. It is too violent, too subtle, and too “talk-y”.

Ridely Scot was originally slated to direct, but according to IMDB, Todd Field will be at the helm.

Fans of the book, what are your thoughts? Could/should this movie be made? If it is made, how would you cast it? And how would you handle the ending?
