> We still watch a lot of movies on DVD. Not ones that we own, though; we rent them through Red Box\*. You get movies that have just left the theater, unedited and uninterrupted. Unfortunately, there are usually no “extras” like commentary and special features, and there is no chance to get a movie older than a few months. Still, it keeps our DVD player working. Never did buy a Blu-Ray player.

And they’re almost free. I get so many promo codes from them. I assume they make their money from the old video store model of people keeping the film for multiple days. I live across the street from a Redbox so I often get a movie there and have it returned same day.

> Yeah, and the thirty trailers you have to get past to get to the main menu. Watching discs seems to be a greater investment in your time and patience than streaming.

And the studios wonder why there is piracy? Even when trailers are forced on you the piracy warnings are, Pain in the arse. When the official product gives your customers a worse experience you’ve made a bad mis-step.

I have a blu-ray player but have never bought or watched a blu-ray film. Too expensive, too annoying and too restrictive.
I get more content than I can possibly manage with Amazon Prime and can pay a few quid to get a month’s worth of additional streamed content.
Physical media is pretty much dead to me apart from games. I always buy physical cartridges for the Switch when I can.

In all your posts on technology, you assume that because some science fiction writer imagines it, it is not only possible but inevitable.

[Moderating]

**Wesley Clark** and **Darren Garrison** , both of you stop that right there. If you have a personal beef with another poster, take it to the Pit.
