Since this thread has re-surfaced, I’ll mention a folk (?) song I’ve heard a semi-local Irish band sing. It’s called “Old Maui”, and is about the whalers returning to their homes and wives in Hawaii. Am I really the first Deadhead to open this thread? “Brown-Eyed Women” made its first recorded appearance on _Europe '72_. “Brown eyed women and red grenadine The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean…” The object of the 1953 Wynonie Harris R & B classic “Don’t Roll Your Bloodshot Eyes at Me” also had a pair of brown peepers, although the main attraction was her irises: “I used to spend my money, to make you look real sweet I wanted to be proud of you when we walked down the street Now don’t ask me to dress you up, in satin and in silk Your eyes look like two cherries in a glass of buttermilk.” ---
