Board game recommendations for two players

We’re hooked on mancala and haven’t even ordered Pandemic yet.

This thread inspired my wife and I to get some board games. It’s just her and I so we picked up Dominion, some card games, and I’ve ordered Munchkin, Gloom, and Ingenious.

In time I’m going to get Twilight Struggle and Innovation.

For two players, I’ll suggest Stratego which is not quite as skill-based as chess.

I got given Khet a few Christmasses ago. A board game in which you move mirrored pieces with the intent to zap the enemy with your laser fire, it has the potential to be quite a strategic struggle although I wouldn’t claim to have grasped any but the most obvious. You haven’t lived until you accidentally laser your own Pharaoh. :smack:

The wife and I had our first game night with friends and we played Munchkin. Man, that’s a fun game. I want to play it again but we need a third player.

The first game took a few hours, as no one knew what they were doing. I just finished watching the Table Top episode to get more of the rules down.

Cribbage is the game my wife and I play the most often. Memoir '44 might also be a good choice: it’s a tactical WW2 game that takes about 10 minutes to set up and about 30-45 minutes to play.

Hah! Yes. Works better with a few more than two though.
