… where the envelopes are supposed to be. It’s also very slow to load the icons. This happened a couple of months ago when y’all were trying to add a new feature, and you decided against it, remember? Is that what’s going on _now_? Thanks Quasi ---

You \*still seein’ spots **Quasi** mate? GeorgiaDope musta been even better than I’d heard! 😃 Anyway, maybe it was an admin playing with the settings for a few seconds, or something. Judging by [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=185000), I don’t think they’ll be turning it back on in a hurry. I checked task manager and damn if that MSBLAST.exe virus wasn’t back and running! I end-processed it like I did before and re-booted. Bullet holes? In IE, a little red “x” on a white square (I think that’s called an image placeholder) shows up where an image has failed to download. But the icon area for the envelope is too small to show the whole “x”, so when the board is slow and that happens, all I see is a dot in a small square box. Again in IE, to retry downloading the picture, right-click on it and select the appropriate option which is (I think) “show picture”. ---

Thanks, **rowrrbazzle**! I’ll keep it in mind for the next time it happens. Lately though, the board’s been slow even in the middle of the night sometimes. Not to the point of showing the dots (or bullet-holes, as I call them), but timing out and “Server cannot be found”-kinda stuff. That’s unusual. Maybe it’s time to re-hamster? 😃 Q ---

I was going to write the other day when I discovered that my drop-down boxes and (funn9ily enough) “register” button had inexplicably disappeared. But that probably explains it. (yes, I did notice the envlopes and stuff as well) F\_X
