Before the last upgrade it went to a copy of the Dope that had been migrated to the current version of the vBulletin. It was much fun for a few days actually. Once testing and migration was done, **Jerry** had the address redirect to the actual board.

Sometimes you’re reading from boards.straightdope and sometimes you’re reading from boardstest.straightdope. I assume that it happens when somebody’s testing something. Here’re a couple of other threads about it:
