Being semi-serious and not particularly cruel in the Pit, I did want to address Bob’s bitching.
Because more than a hijack, it seemed like a thread-shit to me. From my POV at least, and based on comments to date, I’m almost certainly not alone, it sure seemed like you jumped into a quiescent thread, which had quite a bit of history and nuance on the discussion, WITHOUT READING any of it. Because every single point you made in your post was done better, and with a much more solid basis in fact by other posters including Sam_Stone.
And for the record, if you’re being out reasonable’d by SS on an issue touching on EV/Elon/Political points, you really, REALLY need to reconsider your life choices!
So you jumped in, warm and smug in your “new” points that had been done to death, and then dropped the proverbial turd in the punchbowl with the “real car” crack.

Don’t expect to be treated well when you obviously didn’t read, or at best, skimmed the thread, then jumped in with booth boots (which immediately ended up in your mouth), and THEN had the audacity to play the victim card.

Aside from the idiocy of suggesting that EVs aren’t real cars, it’s not true that only new EVs will be allowed to be sold in California starting in 2035. As is the case in Canada and elsewhere, the law calls for only zero-emissions vehicles to be sold, and these “include battery electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV).”

Yes, they do. So PHEVs are only sort-of zero-emissions vehicles. Still, they may be just the thing for people, like the OP, who worry about the availability of EV chargers. It’s possible that by the time 2025 rolls around, EV chargers will be widely enough available that is no longer a concern.
But but but… Are PHEV’s “Real Cars ™” Not sure on this one.
