In the back of my mind I have the impression that Bob Newhart once did a “12 Days of Christmas” sketch. This would have been in the late '60s or early '70s on some celebrity holiday special.

I recall him starting out on the phone trying to order the props needed for his presentation.

“I need a partridge in a pear tree…No? Well what do you have… Okay, send that over, it will have to do…” etc.

He tries to make the best of it, but the only thing I remember from his reading of the poem/song is “… and a chicken in a palm tree.”

Am I imagining things again? Does anyone else remember this?

Bob Newhart could probably read the actual text of the 12 Days of Christmas and make me laugh.
