Bubble Foot’s first return from death was only a few months after RotJ hit the screens: in issue #81 of the Marvel comic, he gets barfed up by the sarlacc, wanders around for a while with amnesia, then rides a jawa sandcrawler back into the sarlacc. [Really](http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_81:_Jawas_of_Doom).

> Quoting myself from a different forum where someone asked why Boba Fett was so popular:

I assume that the exclusive action figure was the small one? Because I got the 13" Boba Fett as a Christmas present in 1979. This means that it must have been sold at either Sears or Pamada before the movie came out.

While I use to love looking through the back of his head I was insanely worried for months about the “wookie scalps” it came with, and I was convinced that Chewbacca was going to die in the movie.

I don’t know what month the [13 incher](http://theswca.com/index.php?action=disp_item&item_id=39552) came out, only that it was 1979. The [mail-away](http://theswca.com/images-speci/mailaways/fett.html) began at the end of May 1979.

> Mostly, Boba Fett looks really cool, has a very costume-friendly look, and is enough of a badass not to flinch when Vader’s in his face. There was the hype with his action figure that’s been mentioned, but I think it really comes down to him being a tough guy that looks cool and isn’t a fate-chosen space wizard or weird alien.

That’s what I recall as well. Basically he and Han Solo were the only bad-ass characters who weren’t Force users, and Fett looks infinitely cooler. Plus, he got Han, so that makes him the most bad-ass non-Jedi character.

Yes I am betting I asked for it from the Sears ad in your link.

And while this may be revisionist history I kind of think I may have wanted it because it was suppose to have a launching missile. My brother and I bought the small ones with our own money and the offering seems familiar but we wouldn’t have ever sent anything in.

The 13" were funny My mother actually had already bought C3P0 and Chewbacca when my brother and I asked for Boba Fett and Darth Vader so she hid the ones she bought away.

They remained unopened until about two years ago when my Niece and Nephew thought that they had found hidden gifts for their Christmas.

I know that destroyed a bunch of their value but I kind of liked to have that toy connection with them across the decades as there aren’t too many of those shared experiences left.

I particularly enjoy Robot Chicken’s take on what would most likely have been a really awkward dinner party on Bespin in ESB.

Also Leia…although he does blow up her planet.

Many years ago, I read a series of three novels about the Boba Fett character. I read them mainly because they’re by K.W. Jeter, one of three writers to come out of Philip K. Dick’s circle of friends (the others are James Blaylock and Tim Powers). Jeter’s work tends to be very uneven, but I found his BF books very entertaining and readable (although I don’t remember anything about the plots).

Boba Fett is, in some ways, the “Batman” of the Star Wars universe. He’s a badass man of mystery who takes no crap and stood up to Darth Vader. He’s driven by childhood trauma (witnessing the beheading of his clone-father Jango Fett in _Attack of the Clones_) and a thirst for revenge. He has no special powers and relies on his wits, skill, and clever weaponry. I vaguely recall that Jeter gave BF a sort of ethical code, so he didn’t seem like a complete sociopath.
