'Bohemian Rhapsody' Film Production Question

I had a similar experience as an extra in Rookie of the Year (1993) at Wrigley Field. There were probably a few hundred of us, and they just kept moving us to wherever the cameras were pointing.

There was just one scene that required an actual stadium full of people, and they shot that between games of a Cubs/Cardinals doubleheader.

I went to a Detroit Tigers game as a kid in 1983 and before the game started they filmed portions of Tiger Town. I remember the stadium announcer getting the crowd to make noise by telling us to cheer loud enough to hear your own voice during the movie

I recently binged Friday Night Lights, and read that they set many of the game scenes at an actual HS. Used the same colors and (IIRC) same team name. So they were able to film crowd shots at actual games.

Crowd scenes often take me out of a movie. Either there aren’t enough people and the empty seats are obvious and distracting (to me), or as in BoRhap, it so obviously HAS to be CGI, that THAT takes me out of it.
