# Boiling Water For

I am responding to the posting about boiling water for tea- [http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mteaboil.html](http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mteaboil.html)  
Iffen I was to boil water, then EMPTY the kettel? All I get ( and, got once…sadly ) is an incredibly rusty inside of a nice British teapot.  
Any other, less destructive ideas?
