# Bold Button Redirect to Ad

When I was composing my response in this[thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=15548265&postcount=9) and clicked on the “ **B** ” to bold member names I twice got [this page](http://www.bradsdeals.com/dealsoftheday/subscribe/b1?tid=306656&s=adcom-display-cpa-728keurig-b1&utm_source=adcom&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=cpa-728keurig-b1) opening in a new tab. Sounds weird, but that is what happened.

Browser = Opera 12.02

Standard disclaimer:  
_The SDMB is not the only internet site I have ever visited, however I have never had this or other redirect issues until just now. Never had audible ad, or pop up ad issues before. Not even the back button issue mentioned in other threads._

I dug around a bit and it looks like this was a UTM Campaign Link. Some info and an example described [here](http://www.wpsite.net/how-to-use-utm-campaign-links-across-your-website/).

UTM tags stripped from the url I was sent to:  
utm\_source=adcom  
utm\_medium=display  
utm\_campaign=cpa-728keurig-b1

I am guessing the adcom is shorthand for [advertising.com](http://advertising.com) as I currently am looking at a normal banner ad for “Brad’s Deals of the Day” served up by [Advertising.com](http://Advertising.com)
