This is the most bizarrely terrifying thing. Someone attached a bomb to this 18 yr old girl at 2.30 this afternoon. Nine hours later, the police bomb squad are still trying to work out how to disarm it. There may or not be some kind of ransom note involved. The police have evacuated her house, and the neighbouring houses. She is with 4 police officers. I can’t imagine how scared and freaked out she must be. There was [this case in 2003](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Wells_%28bank_robber%29), but it turned out the “victim” was involved in the plotting. I hope this ends in a batter way. ---

Was it ever proven that Wells was involved? He was dead after all and had no opportunity to defend himself. My understanding is that the basis for believing he was involved was the testimony of the robbers after they were caught - and they would have reason to try to mitigate their guilt by claiming Wells was also guilty rather than admitting they killed an innocent man. ---

I am alsojust slightly suspicious about it all. The police have not been in contact with the person who planted the bomb around her neck? In saying that, why did it take so long to remove it? It is a very rich area, seems unlikely the victim was seeking money. The four police who stayed with her- you did well. ---

They are saying it was an extortion attempt to do with the dad’s business. How was that supposed to work? Could the extortionist set the bomb off remotely? Was he going to come and remove it if they complied with the demand? The police are still not sure if it was actually a bomb. They are saying it was ‘extremely well-made’, which means they have no clue. I hadn’t heard about the Brian Wells case. That is also very weird, like the plot for a bad movie. ---

I know one of the teachers at the girl’s school. She emailed me a few minutes ago to say that it’s farily chaotic there this morning. All the staff and girls have just been briefed on what’s been going on. There are journalists milling around at every gate to the school. And the HSC trial exams have all been suspended until further notice. As my friend said “it certainly isn’t your average schoolday here at the moment”. ---

Turns out it was a fake. There’s no suggestion, though, that the girl herself was involved. This is what happens when you have a liberal immigration policy and don’t allow the police to do their job and profile as is obviously necessary. The Mosman community should be thoroughly watched at all times and infiltrated because this is just the kind of actions one would expect from them. Wait, what? ---
