Golly, I sure haven’t read anything in the local papers or seen anything in the local TV news about the SPD shooting cop-killers illegally. Must have missed it somewhere.

The same Seattle police force that was so corrupt and violent that the Department of Justice had to [oversee reform?]([Seattle Police Department - Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Police_Department#Significant_events%5C)) A shining beacon of professionalism right there.

> In December 2011 the SPD was subject to a Department of Justice investigation that found officers had violated the 14th Amendment and the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994. The DOJ found that SPD officers engaged in a pattern of excessive use of force that violated the Constitution as well as Federal law. Furthermore, the regular invocation of the Garrity protection was found to have reduced the department’s ability to supervise the use of force and hinder investigations. A spokesman for the SPD indicated they will fully comply with the DOJ inquiry to avoid a federal lawsuit.[18] In late July 2012, the city and Department of Justice reached a settlement that included improved oversight, training and reporting.

The DOJ never criticized them for shooting cop-killers. Where they got in trouble was for lesser actions.

Since I obviously have sympathy for cop-killers, just how many of them have been shot by Seattle’s finest? Please give some cites so I can post nice things about them, because, hey, anyone who questions the actions of the police is surely a cop-killer lover.

You know, it’s not just cops who have long shoot-outs with the sound of their own fire. It’s also a well-known problem in the military.

A partial solution is better training and better supervision. Nobody likes better supervision, and it isn’t realistic for most policing situations. That only leaves better training, and well,

for most police forces, that’s not going to happen either. There’s lots of things I would change in the world if I could, so training people to not fire wildly when they hear gun shots would probably not be at the top of my list.

Here’s one of the more recent - a guy that killed four police officers at one fell swoop. The demise of the gentleman is discussed toward the bottom of the article.
