I had a debate with a friend of mine recently who is a big fan of James Bond. We are the same age, 36, so we both grew up with Roger Moore as Bond. She, like most Bond fans I know, think of Connery as THE Bond. I admit when I hear “Bond” I think of Moore. Also my two favorite Bond films are **On Her Majesties Secret Service** and **License to Kill**. The reason I like these two is that they show a different side of Bond and have a little more depth, IMO. While I like most of the others it is nice to see something outside the usual formula. Anyway, she thinks I am nuts, but that is my opinion, and I won’t back away form it, ding dangit! ---

While I think Sean Connery was the best, Brosnan has been pretty mpressive. Dalton was great in the second film he got to make (License to Kill). But honestly, “On her Majesties Secret Service”? bleh! ---

I agree, ‘On Her Majesties Secret Service’, chick flick. Licence to kill is a good one, though. ---

You think of Moore as Bond, but your 2 favorites he isn’t in? Connery man, myself. He looked like he could kill quickly, efficiently, and return to the baccarat table totally unaffected. ---

Well I am a Roger Moore Bond fan, probably because my interest in the Bond movies (and books) corresponded with his tenure in the role. My favorite Bond movie is _The Spy Who Loved Me_. I don’t exactly remember why, but Jane Seymour probably has something to do with it. I’ve seen bits and pieces of the Connery films, and all of Brosnan’s Goldeneye, and could never get into either. Roger Moore is my Bond, at least until they give Rupert Everett a chance at it (I saw a site where he was listed as a possible successor to Brosnan). ---

The reason I think of Moore as 007 is that he is the one I grew up seeing. In fact one of my earliest film going memories is our family seeing **Live and Let Die** at an old time one screen theater with a balcony and curtain. While I do enjoy some of the movies by each actor who has portrayed Bond, when I hear or think of it I still picture Moore. It does not mean I think his interpretation was the best, in fact some movies got a bit silly in my opinion. I admit I did like Daltons darker bond, however I think Brosnan is doing an excellent job. ---

Connery was the best. Brosnan is too much of a sissy to be Bond. What about Russell Crow as successor? He’s got that tough guy mixed with class air about him, I think. ---

I grew up with Brosnan as Bond, but I like Connery as well. Moore was a horrible Bond, IMHO. Dalton was pretty good, too. ---

Ha. Merely liking Moore best is not Bond heresy. Liking _The Man with the Golden Gun_, as I do, is Bond heresy. Okay, it has that silly kung-fu stuff, and J. W. Pepper is contemptible. But Scaramanga has to be the most refreshing, unique villain in the entire series. The duel between Bond and Scaramanga had more tension than any other climactic Bond fight. And that theme song totally rocks.
