Tanya Huff has a new book out in paperback. The Blood Books, Volume Three includes Blood Debt and Blood Bank.
Blood Bank is actually a collection of short stories. The last, “So This is Christmas.” written just for the paperback, is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long, long time.
The fabric she’d tossed aside [Ghost of Christmas Future] stood beside her now,
a hint of features under the drape.
“Well, nice to see the Nazgul are getting work.”
I love Tanya Huff. Have you read the series that she spun off of the Blood books, starting with Smoke and Shadows? Those are more light-hearted than the Blood books, and very funny. Her Keeper series and Valor series are also good, and funny. There’s a new Valor book due in June.
Have any of you read any of John Swartzwelder’s novels? According to the guys doing the commentary on the Simpsons DVDs, they have the same kind of humor as Swartzwelder’s writing for The Simpsons. I’m tempted to order one from Amazon.
Wow. That movie was so unfunny (and great, by the way) that I can’t imagine the book being funny. Not that book-to-movie translation is usually an accurate thing.
