To reiterate, the deal with Bose is that while they may sound OK (and I’m sure many Bose owners will think they sound fantastic), for the same money you can find something that’s a lot better (which is why I mentioned NHT). Nobody’s suggesting thousand dollar cables and $100,000 home speaker systems here (and yes, they do exist, although I’d never buy one, even if I could afford it). I have to admit that when I first heard an Acoustimass system I was impressed; not so much for the fantastic sound (which it wasn’t), but that a decent sound came from such a small package (note that this was in a store; I wasn’t doing any serious listening). However, if you don’t need such a small package, there are better alternatives.
