Missy: I want to thank you, Shirley.
Shirley: Oh, it was nothing.
Missy: No, it was everything. (Takes Shirley’s hand) When I came to you, it was because I knew you were a woman of principle. And you didn’t let me down. You did the right thing. And now, from this day forward, I know my Ivan won’t cheat on me … with anyone.
And you can see the realization dawn on Shirley’s face.
See, I read that as realization of a close call, not of being found. But looking back, I see your point.
Actually, I pitied Missy but now I pity Shirley. She was taken in by the hubby and then, as it has been so eloquently put here, owned by the wife. Missy apparently doesn’t blame Shirley for it, though…
Now that I think about it, Missy’s a badass. She kept her cool, didn’t take shit from anyone and fooled everyone with the ditz show, and man did Ivan get served (no pun intended) by that post-nup! If he’s not as dense as he looks, maybe he’ll keep his rocket on the launchpad.
