I rarely start threads in the Pit, and I don’t think I’ve ever started one aimed at another Doper, but I feel you crossed the line here. So… **bot3** , you are an asshole, and stupid to boot. First and foremost, your snip in [post #8](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=15675591&postcount=8) is completely uncalled for. Way to step on the head of a person already down on the ground, hero! :rolleyes: Secondly, if you think that the (presumably white, older) rich people will abandon the US **and** that the inevitable result will be a _republican_ victory in the next election… well, either one of these assumptions is pretty way out there, but putting these two **together** is beyond asinine. I get it; you’re disappointed that your man lost. Suck it up, go vent about it yourself in proper venues, go get roaring drunk… whatever floats you boat. Do **not** come in here, choose a thread where a vulnerable young person is doing their own venting about their own personal plight, and shit all over it. … I apologize for the lack of cussing and vitriol. I think the egregious nature of **bot3** ’s behavior is sufficient to carry the outrage all on it’s own. ---

**bot3** ’s posts in the **SurrenderDorothy** thread were an amazing combination of stupidity and unkindness. He/she/it apparently can’t read or comprehend very well, and it also lacks the faintest hint of humaneness. The bot part of its name fits. Scum would be a better name. Is that taken? ---

I heartily endorse this pitting. One of the things these boards are about is helping people - sometimes with nagging questions, sometimes with fighting boredom, sometimes with finding resources for a bad situation. People like **bot3** are the opposite of helping; the idea that when people help each other spontaneously there is less need for “handouts” and “socialism” than when we treat each other as rivals fighting for a limited amount of resources would probably cause a shower or machine oil all over the carpeting… Life isn’t a zero-sum game, but **bot3** is the kind of lifeform that lowers the average. ---

Your location says a lot. I’m not commenting. You can pit all you want, it doesn’t change the fact that Dorthy may or MAY NOT be a victim. Yes I question her validity. If it’s true then I sympathize with her and wish I could help. But I suspect, (note “suspect” as opposed to know) that she could do more than complain on the Internet. After the fact and after she gets it together then by all means tell us her story. Although not perfect there are many agency’s that can help her. She did not say she availed herself to those options. The truth hurts, huh? As far as my man winning or losing, is inconsequential. Like I said to me is matters little. BTW…You didn’t see any vulgar language from me did you.? Or is that the only way to make yourself heard? ---

When someone falls, I try to help them up. If it turns out they just faked the fall for sympathy, then I’ve lost very little. But kicking them when they’re down, just because they _might_ be faking? To be fair, I completely understand where you are coming from **Bot3**. However, little information has been given as to her actual circumstances and I think your reaction was a bit premature and unecessarily harsh(again only because of the fact that we are unaware of her exact circumstance). Where I come from, we aren’t opposed to giving people the shirts off our backs to those who need it. I also think it would be a simple courtesy to give her the benefit of the doubt before jumping the gun. Would you say that is fair? ---
