Some of the direct questions were hard to answer. He’s “written” a lot of books, but most of them are transcriptions of his own music. I said “yes,” mostly because amazon lists him as the author. Likewise, the books written “about” him have been other people’s transcriptions of his work.
He’s been a frequent guest with the Grateful Dead, who were undoubtedly a prominent band, but I don’t think he’s ever really been considered a member. He _was_ a member of Old and in the Way, and they’re a prominent band in bluegrass, but probably not what most people think of when they hear “prominent band.” He’s also sung with various bands, but he’s known primarily for his playing.[/spoiler]

I played a week long game kind of like this with my brother when we were kids. It was one of the most frustrating things I’d ever done in my life. I never could figure out who he was thinking about, and he wouldn’t tell me. A couple of years ago, he finally admitted that he was answering the questions at random and didn’t have anybody in mind.
That’s pretty much the benchmark in my mind for pure evil.
