So a guy from a musical or comedy movie from source material created 1973-1979 (maybe a play?), by an American author or authors. First name Ea-Em (but not Ed), last name A-M. First name not particularly common. Not the protagonist nor the antagonist. Caucasian. Not from a genre piece. If it’s a play Neil Simon was really busy in the 70’s. So was Tom Stoppard, but he’s not American. Time to think… ---

And for a while I was thinking “Eric Stratton - rush chairman - damn glad to meet you” but of course the last name initial was wrong. I’ve seen the movie, and the opening, but the namesake of Faber College never really sank in. ---

Except DLR was quoting _Animal House_, which indicates they saw it, in which case EH goes again. If not, then it reverts back to the previous host, which was SCAdian. ---
