Ha, this is quite funny - correct on Wozniak and Billy Chrystal, the latter of whom I had somehow confused with Billy Wilder (which was the ‘W’ I was going for - hadn’t even occurred to me about Billy being a nickname)! So good that you even get the ones I’m not going for.

The first was Willard White - one DQ reserved.

Huh. Well, that leaves Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. And Greenland.

A point of clarification, EH, if you please: when I think of the Western Hemisphere, I think of North and South America and surrounding island nations. That’s the one I’ve used previously. However, looking at maps, they seem to indicate that the Western Hemisphere includes Western Europe and Western Africa.

Which definition are you using in this game?

Loudon Wainwrite, Weird Al Yankovic, correct

Prof, that’s why I always avoided asking about hemispheres. There’s always that tiny bit of a chance.

Last time we clarified hemispheres (at my instigation) we settled on “west of the Greenwich Meridian [and east of the international dateline]”. Assuming that remains the case for this game, most of the UK is in play as well as some of France, Spain, and Portugal. In addition to Prof. P’s list, of course.

Is it permissible for us to discuss amongst ourselves any ideas we have?

Correct on Willy, the others are William Walton, and Sergeant Arthur Wilson from _Dad’s Army_. Maybe that one is a bit Brit-centric, was it ever shown across the pond?

Heh, this was one of the things I was going to discuss - I have a strong hunch this person is British. This is because I feel it is unlikely the inventor of a product in the given time period would be from the Americas but not North America. They are also unlikely to be Mexican, Spanish, or French because W is barely used in those languages. If they are confirmed as European, British (or Irish) is practically a certainty.

Having said all that, sadly I have no inspiration yet on who it might actually be!
