And just in time, too! Sorry I couldn’t participate more in the questioning this round, was a busy work week. It was the swordsman question that made me think of it, I think, combined with remembering the French Revolution was just before 1800. So good job all round. I think you were probably right to answer the last name question as a yes - I didn’t know the character’s real name until I looked him up (after making my guess, of course). Would I be right in assuming that it makes sense to skip Q and go on to R? ---

Hmm. The word “the” suggests that it was a title, and not a name, though (I wouldn’t consider either D or W a proper clue for the Duke of Windsor, for instance). Not sure about this. What do others think? ---

He’s a lot better known by the “title” than by his actual name. Ditto the Lone Ranger, the Shadow, the Green Hornet, etc. ---

I think using titles is OK as long as the answer isn’t a title term or descriptor, like king, queen, etc. “Lord Dunsany” wouldn’t be kosher for L, but it would be for D. Thus, “Scarlet Pimpernell” answer wouldn’t be OK for S. I otherwise have no objections to this answer. We’ve always done Q, to show we’re hard core. 🙂 I don’t have any objections if you want to skip to R, but I might make a snide comment or two. Don’t be embarrassed if we guess it right away. I hold the record for shortest game ever with T. We were doing a Christmas theme, and the only answer I could think of was Tiny Tim. Prof guessed it with his very first IQ. ---
