Can we take all this to mean that all of this at least partially factors in?
Religious teacher or people involved with social movements come to mind. No O though. And there’s always criminals and athletes.
1 (MI6 analyst in Doctor Who) was O; 2 (Suzy’s heavy metal-loving boyfriend) was O.D., from the movie TerrorVision; 3 (founder of Wu-Tang Clan) was O.D.B., AKA Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

18th or 19th C. German, known for religion but not for his writings or philosophy… Hmm.
Please ask your earned “Are you Firstname Lastname?” questions by 6pm EST Sunday.
Still stumped.
19th century preacher, perhaps? Coming up with about a dozen names, none of them O. And the arguably German is troubling.
Arguably German is probably referencing the fact that German was unified until the middle of the 19th Century, and anything before was a bunch o’ smaller states that became Germany. Bavaria, for example.
Are you Philip William Otterbein, founder of the United Brethren in Christ?
I am not. You’re warm, though.
