Botticelli, March 2012. Game 2: Z

I’m not Alec Guinness or T.S. Garp

I’m not that guy from the Billy Crystal movie either, but since I don’t have the name, you get a DQ

The co-host of SNL’s Wayne’s World, Garth.
George Washington owned both those animals.
George Armstrong Custer made quite a splash at the Grand Review in Washington, D.C. at the end of the Civil War by “accidentally” riding at a gallop down Pennyslvania Avenue while others were riding or marching more sedately.

DQs:

Author?
Alive in 1950?

I’ll reserve my third DQ for now.

Did the Alan Parsons Project name an album after you?

That was George Muresan.

Correct as to Flaubert.
Antonio Gaudi, the architect of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, was musically interpreted in the APP album Gaudi.
Abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison said this due to the Constitution’s original protection of slavery.

All right, three DQs, then (incl. the one I reserved from earlier), and… I don’t really know what to ask. I don’t know any French musicians of the late 20th century with a last name starting with “G.” If anyone would like to ask my DQs, help yourself.

Of French musicians I too can only think of Stéphane Grappelli.
Is it worth trying for:

  • singer (and if not, which instrument)
  • classical, jazz or other?

Sure, formalize those as DQs, if you like.

IQ: Were you married to Jane Birkin?

Yes. I am Serge Gainsbourg.

Well played, Ministre. The next round is yours.

Never heard of him! But congrats, Ministre.

I’ve heard of (and seen pics of) Jane Birkin.
All I remember about her was she made a record with a French guy called ‘Je t’aime’- so presumably that was Serge?!

Thanks, Ministre.

P.S. I’m starting to feel uncultured, since I didn’t know two of the last three chappies. :smack:

I don’t think you should feel uncultured for not knowing Serge Gainsbourg - I know him (and Jane Birkin) because I had a French teacher who was very keen on the positive effects of listening to French singers. I have amused memories of the day when she played ‘Je t’aime - moi non plus’ to us without having meant to…

So, over to me again; actually, we’re close enough to April, why don’t I just start a new thread? I’ll leave a link once it’s up and running…
