Look, maybe I’m missing something here. Wasn’t it established that this is a real-life 19th century American man? Unless I misunderstand the game (which wouldn’t be much of a surprise), people seem to be ignoring the summaries that Elendil_s_Heir is posting.
Well, the idea at this point is to ask IQs to get more DQs to nail down the clues. If I could think of someone who fit the clues we already have, I’d certainly be asking about him. Since I haven’t thought of him yet, I keep asking other questions to narrow it down.
Thought I might getcha on the last one. It’s Sam-I-Am, from Green Eggs and Ham.
DQ: Known for crime?
Welcome to Botticelli, @Quondam_Mechanic! As the Prof pointed out, the indirect questions (IQs) are meant to trip up Elendil’s Heir; if he can’t answer them, we earn a direct question (DQ), used to ask questions about the target of the round. IQs have to be about a person, real or fictional, one of whose names starts with the same letter as the target; in this case, “S”.
Correct. You are not limited in your IQs by the DQ answers already provided. Even if you already know the mystery person is a guy, for instance, you can still submit IQs about gals.
And Sam-I-Am! Duh. Of course.
Dunno, not Sherman and not Saruman.

Happy Easter to those Dopers who celebrate it!
Where’d everybody go?
IQs:
- Did your discovery lead to the Gold Rush?
- Are you aka Peter Quill?
- Were you also known as ALF?
Not Starlord, and dunno about ALF.
But ding ding ding! Yes, I am indeed the proprietor of Sutter’s Mill,
John Sutter
Not at all a nice guy, I’ve learned. For more: John Sutter - Wikipedia
Gordon Shumway is correct.
I’ll start an April thread quite soon.
Now, in fact Botticelli - April 2024
