I’m ever so sorry, Lorne Greene is indeed an iconic Canadian actor, but he was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. If he’d been from The Rock, I’d have given you that one. Gordon Pinsent was who I had in mind. From ‘The Rowdyman’ to ‘A Gift to Last’ to his role as the ghost of Bennie’s father on ‘Due South’ to his outstanding performance in ‘Away from Her’, he is one of the most recognizable figures on the Canadian scene. (Extra hint: the title character’s name is spelled differently, depending on whether you’re speaking of the play or the opera, because the condition of the manuscript was so bad, the first editor could hardly read it for the mouse turds…) ---
