IQ: Were you thrown a gold coin as a generous payment in your youth?

IQ: Were you a freedom fighter with a handsome face but no pulse?

IQ: Did Ben Stein write admiringly of you when almost no one else did?
I don’t know the first two.
Since Ben Stein was a speechwriter in the Nixon administration… not Spiro Agnew?

If that’s right, you get two DQ’s. If wrong, you get three.

IQ: Did you win marathon races both with and without shoes?

IQ: Are you a Broadway composer less well remembered as “Hyman Arluck”, your birth name?

IQ: Are you a 1930’s-era spy novelist whose works include “A Coffin for Dimitrios” and “Background to Danger”?

For the record, I would happily have accepted “Cymbeline” in the previous game along with Cunobelinus or other variants.

Well, that didn’t take long.

**YES! I am Abebe Bikila, Ethiopian policeman and the first of many great East African long distance runners. I won the Olympic marathon in 1960 and 1964, once with shoes and once without.**

Congratulations, Gael. I was getting used to loooong games!

Thanks.

The spy novelist was Eric Ambler and the composer was Harold Arlen. I thought Bikila was least likely of the three to be a stumper, but I suspected he might well be the mystery person.

Moving on…

R.

Are you a heavy metal god who ditched rock and roll entirely to play Renaissance music?

Did you spend your childhood at a Catholic industrial school, where you were trained to be a tailor?

Abraham Lincoln, as a teenager, was thus paid for rowing two rich men out to a steamboat.

Adam Selene, a computer program with a simulated face in Heinlein’s _The Moon is a Harsh Mistress_.

Anna Nicole Smith, about whom Stein wrote a few years before she died.

Congrats to **AppallingGael**! Now it’s R, huh? Thought we’d done that pretty recently. Hmm.

IQ: Were you the first Attorney General of the United States?

And likewise…
I am not Rutledge.

I am not Rush Limbaugh (it is late in his career, isn’t it?).

I am not Edward G. Robinson.

The AG was Edmund Randolph.

I never heard that the FBI was watching Limbaugh; I was thinking of Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist.

As to the third question, I’ll rephrase: Did you play a bad guy in your last Hollywood role, but lived another 30-some years afterwards?

3. Babe Ruth was abandoned by his parents and grew up in a Catholic industrial school where he was trained to be a tailor.

I haven’t actually heard it either regarding Limbaugh; I just guessed that the feds probably keep an eye on high-profile drug users for the safety of the citizenry.

Of course Edward G. Robinson was often a bad guy, but his last role evidently was as an investigator in “Soylent Green”. Just for fun, I will answer “Ronald Reagan” to the revised version.
