I was going for Helen Hunt, who voiced Renee in the episode where Homer commits insurance fraud to help Moe pay off the huge bills he ran up courting her. It’s possible that there’s an episode where Hank Azaria (who voices Moe) also voices his love interest, so I’ll withhold the DQ until I know.

DQ1: Died since 1500?
DQ2: Known for political or military endeavours?

IQ1: Are you a female mathematician who was killed by a mob?

Horatio Nelson was ordered (by flag signal) to withdraw from combat at Copenhagen, but he held his telescope to his blind eye and said that he couldn’t see the signal.
Correct on Horatius Cocles and Lanoe Hawker VC (which was the one I expected you to miss - I thought I was making it too easy by using “Horatio” and “Horatius” in the same set of questions).
DQ: Died after 1800?
IQ1: Were you an early 20th-century PM of the UK?
IQ2: Were you a gunslinger whose best friend was the sheriff of Conniption?
IQ3: Were you a young female spy?

Right on Henry Higgins and Herodotus. #3 is **Hector** of Troy, son of Priam, slayer of Patroclus, who is in turn slain by Achilles.

DQ: From the British Isles (thereby including England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, the Orkneys, the Shetlands, the Isle of Man and the Isle of Wight)?

I had in mind Hiroshige, but I’ll accept Hokusai. #2 was Hector Hammond.

Correct on Herbert Asquith.
Hipshot Percussion, from the _Rick O’Shay_ comic strip.
I wouldn’t call Mata Hari young - 40ish, as I recall - but I’ll rephrase.
DQ: Native speaker of a Germanic language?
IQ1: Are you a fictional young, female American spy?
IQ2: Are you a fictional internationally known detective with two sons?
IQ3: Did Lewis Carroll write a poem about your work as a photographer?

George Frederick Handel is indeed who I was after, along with Henrich Heine. #3 is **Artur Honegger**. ‘Les Six’ drop off steeply in terms of their renown, with Poulenc, Milhaud and Honegger on the ‘at least I’ve heard of them’ side, and Auric, Tailleferre and Durey being real stumpers.

DQ: Are you a member of a royal family?

Harriet, from the children’s book _Harriet the Spy_.
Fenton Hardy, father of Frank and Joe.
[Hiawatha](http://people.virginia.edu/~ds8s/carroll/hia.html).
DQ: Scandinavian?
Two DQs reserved…
IQ1: Were you president of Germany when Hitler became chancellor?

Handel’s _Messiah_ was first performed in Dublin, and His Majesty was not in attendance. I believe the story about him standing at a later performance remains apocryphal.

IQs:

Were you the only chubby Elf in the LOTR movies?
Did you watch firefighters put out a Christmas fire in your workplace?
Was one of your most famous tunes a fake folk song?

Aye, fair enough. I should have said ‘rumoured to have stood’ and then we’d have been fine. (Apocryphal or not, just try being the only soloist not to stand for the Hallelujah chorus in performance; I dare you!)

I go to a _Messiah_ performance just about every Christmas. Care to make it interesting?
