Hooray for Vogel, Stern
A man from whom we have a lot to learn
Because he figured out my myst’ry person
Is A. McPherson, and what for this does he earn?
He gets to pick a name.
If it’s got Sandro’s fame,
Then he may take his turn.

I don’t know the charioteer, or the beauty. Was Alfred E. Smith the man with the pushcart?

I should note that Aimee Semple McPherson (1890-1944), famous radio evangelist of the 1920s and known about as well for her celebrated (temporary) disappearance, was actually born Aimee Elizabeth Kennedy. Mr. Semple and Mr. McPherson were her first and second of three husbands in all, the last being a certain David Hutton. I figured I was safe in being literal and treating McPherson as her “last” name but I used the phrasing “very last name” in my original answer, trying to be not too unfair without giving the game away.

Maude Adams; the later actress (who spelled it “Maud”) appeared in both _The Man with the Golden Gun_ and _Octopussy_, the latter as the title character.

Way to go, **Sternvogel**!

Hooray for **Sternvogel**!!
To clean up, it was **Arjuna** , in the Hindu epic ‘The Mahabharata’, who requested that Krishna be his charioteer. Arjuna grants all of Krishna’s armies to his arch-nemesis, Duryodhana, if only Krishna will be at his side. At the outset of the Kurukshetra War, Arjuna’s purpose fails him at the thought of so much death and so, Krishna sings the ‘Song of God’, the Bhagavad-Gita to strip away Arjuna’s illusion and show him his duty.

No, you have to go to the “Second City” to find [Anton Cermak](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anton_Cermak), who was asked the question as part of a taunting rhyme uttered by incumbent mayor Big Bill Thompson during the 1931 race. Outside Chicago, Cermak is best known as the actual victim of an assassination attempt that (apparently) targeted Franklin Roosevelt about a month before that New Yorker was first inaugurated as President of the United States.

I should have remembered Semple wasn’t truly her “maiden” name, but I felt honor-bound not to check _Wikipedia_ before posting during competition.

I don’t recall K being the target initial recently, so let’s see what besides every “kiss” begins with that letter.

And I’m not Walter Koenig, whose hairdo change during _Star Trek_ was discussed in a recent **SDMB** thread I happened to read.

Is this a _Breaker Morant_ reference? Regardless of whether it is, I’m not coming up with a “K” name that answers this question. Take a DQ.

Yes, from _Breaker Morant_ re: Horatio, Lord Kitchener. He comes across quite slimy in the movie, which is perhaps unfair.

DQ: Male?

No, I’m sorry - I did google to double-check and Khachaturian is not on the ‘Sgt. Pepper’s’ cover. Karlheinz Stockhausen, arguably most famous for his ‘Helicopter String Quartet’, is there in the upper row. He was a huge influence on John Lennon, as witnessed by ‘Revolution 9’ from the album ‘The Beatles’.
DQ: Are you a fictional character?
