There’s one who was born in 1903. (There are, however, two living women who were born before 1900.)
IQ: Did you write The Prophet?
William Gladstone.
Correct.
George S Patton.
What might be a useful DQ to ask? We’re at 18 already…
DQ.
I suppose that this guy might not be as famous as I originally anticipated. I was familiar with his work in two different ways from a very young age, and found his work quite appealing in general. If it turns out I just happened randomly upon the two major things that he did and almost no one knows who he is, I’m sorry.
This is Kahlil Gibran, author, illustrator and sculptor.
IQ: Did you sculpt The Shootout, showing a cowboy and an Indian shooting at each other which caused quite a ruckus in Denver?
It’s fine. If we can’t guess the person, you go again. There’s a lot of art knowledge among the guessers, so don’t sweat it (at least, not yet).
DQ: Illustrator/writer of works primarily for children/young adults?
DQ
That was Red Grooms.
4 DQs reserved. Hmm…

My mistake. Withdrawn.
Previous IQs:
According to one source, did your friend Elphaba later become your bitter foe? - Galinda/Glinda, from Wicked (book and musical).
Was your dad Archie and your husband Michael? - Gloria, on All in the Family.
Were you one of Washington’s best generals? - I’d rephrase, but we’ve asked our 20 DQs already. Nathanael Greene was a much better general than Horatio Gates IMHO.
I’m coming up blank on our mystery person.
Okay, we’re at 20. This means we go to the section where everyone who earned a DQ in the round gets to ask one (and only one) more DQ in the form of “Are you [Firstname] [Lastname}?”
Here’s mine:
Are you Larry Gosnick, creator of The Cartoon History of the Universe?
I amLarry Gonick, the correctly spelled version of the creator of etc. In middle school they had his first CHotU book on the shelf, and I got Discover Magazine where he had a monthly (or bimonthly?) “column” drawing cartoons about science stuff. I forgot about him for a while, then a few years ago discovered he had done the cartoon history up to the modern day, and I loved it.
Whew.
Nice to know I guessed correctly…
Good first round, glowacks!
…and now… I am Y!
IQ1: Were you a fellow of infinite jest?
