Wizards was just… weird. It didn’t make sense to me that there was a script writer out there who thought what they were writing actually made sense. Because it’s just a very strange mishmash of bad timing and incompletely thought out concepts. I very much got the vibe from it that it was written by someone who had burnt out on psycadelic drugs, and was triyng to make a go of things sober, with their destroyed mind.

My top pick for worst animated movie is one I only recently became aware of: **Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School**. None of the Scooby-Doo movies are particularly good, but this one is simply interminable. It’s like two hours in Hell, only it seems more like two years.

Other than that, I agree with many of the direct-to-video Disney sequels, which all seem to find stupid ways to rehash the plot of the first movie. Specifically:

_Hunchback of Notre Dame II_ (continuing the madness!)
_Little Mermaid II_
_Pocahontas II_
_Cinderella II_
_Lady and the Tramp II_
_Lion King II_
_The Jungle Book II_ (much as I love John Goodman, even he couldn’t save it)
_101 Dalmatians II_ (the animated one, not live-action)
_Pooh’s Grand Adventure_

Horrid, horrid, one and all. Bad animation, bad stories, bad ideas.

I will point out, however, that I thought that the sequal to Alladin (with Dan “Homer Simpson” Castalanetta as the voice of the genie) was adequate, and the third one (which again featured Robin Williams) was actually reasonably good.

Very true, **Max** … which is why they didn’t make the list. Well, that, and I ran out of slots to fill for a “Bottom 10.” 🙂

No, really, the _Aladdin_ sequels were a bit better for some reason, though _Return of Jafar_ just skates by.

The Lion King wasn’t Disney’s vilest act of plagiarism. _Atlantis_ bears far more similarity to a japanese anime called _Nadia_:

[An interesting comparison](http://www.oldcrows.net/Atlantis/)

Yeah, so Wizards was nuts. Porco Rosso, my favorite animated movie, is weird-ass. In fact, all of Miyazaki’s stuff is weird-ass.

Yes, but both movies were from the same book. There had to have been similarities.

The Lion King may be a work of plagiarism, but that doesn’t make the finished product a bad movie.

Well, I would like to note that “Little Mermaid II” is one of the few animated films that I can think of that features a caucasian female heroine who has black hair. That’s all I can say for it.

And _Fox and the House_…gads, that was a lousy movie.

Even if that Lion King article is true, so what? 10 similarities? That doesn’t account for all the material inbetween the similar scenes and it certainly doesn’t negate it being an amazing movie.

But you see, Duderdude2, when you do a remake or reinterpretation or an “inspired by” piece, you don’t then loudly wail and scream and swear you did not. And yes, it is a very good movie.

All I learned about gun safety I learned from Fox and the Hound…
Whatever crap Disney puts out as sequels, the problem is not the quality, but the expectations. Little Mermaid II is a piece of crap from Disney - poorly animated, lousy script. But it is still a work of art compared to the “Disney-esqe” rip offs you buy for $3.00 and other straight to video releases (and remember - Little Mermaid II was straight to video). You can get a ton of animated crap on tape.

Any _Land Before Time_ movie after the first (gotta echo The Onion article that said something like “Land Before Time 4 released Straight to Landfill”), the new Scooby Doo movies with Scrappy in 'em, and \*[Twilight of the Cockroaches\*](http://www.armchairempire.com/AnimeReviews/twilight_of_the_cockroaches.htm).

My vote would go to **The Black Cauldron** based on the novel by Lloyd Alexander. The movie was blasphemous.

_Twilight of the Cockroaches?_

Out of 'satiable curtiosity, I have to ask in what way you feel it didn’t measure up, **Mojo**.

It’s my very favourite anguished meditation on WWII from an Axis power point-of-view, after the non-allegorical _Barefoot Gen_.

The dubbed version is terrible, but only because it’s a dubbed version.

Anything by Ralph Bakshi. His movies are technically strong, but there’s something in Bakshi’s worldview that’s just … rotten … and it corrupts all his films. And I’m a fan of hentai, so my sensibilities are hardly delicate.
