We normally just stay in and don’t go near the malls on Boxing Day, but my sister-in-law needs some help getting her new computer hooked up, so I’ll go to the computer store with her. May take the Cub tobogganing after that, and make some turkey soup. So, what are your Boxing Day plans? ---

Well, I’d planned to make a household shopping run, but you’ve reminded me how insane Boxing Day can be. I may just sneak over to the grocery store for a few basics instead. ---

I may go to a grocery store too. No major shopping for me today, but I may go to the art store tomorrow because they’re still having a sale. Also, do they call it Boxing Day in America? I was listening to the radio, and a radio show host said it was called “the day after Christmas” in the US. ---

We don’t, no–it’s not really a thing here. It’s just another day when the malls/stores are avoided by the wise, as the unwise are all there returning presents and chasing day after Christmas sales. For the longest time as a yute, I thought it was a special holiday in the UK celebrating the art of manly fisticuffs. 😛 ---

Driving down to Marin to see a friend, have lunch and do some window shopping. We are in contact all year long, but only see each other once a year or so. Not often enough, but busy lives and families, seem to negate the fact that we are only 1½ hrs away from each other. ---

My wife and I went mall-walking this morning, as we like to do at least 6 days a week when it is too cold or icy (or, occasionally, too hot) to walk outside. The mall opened at 11, but by law no store could open before 1. We got there a few minutes after 11 and already a couple places had some people lined up outside. By noon a few stores had long lines, a few dozen people. In fact, we had done only five of our normal 6 turns, but gave up because it was already too crowded. Absolute madness. I can only guess what it would be like by 1, but the parking was already just about full by noon. ---

We just got back from the grocery store and liquor store - it was heaven! Both places were almost empty! The rest of the day I’m working. ---

I worked. Since I work in retail, it was a day of returns for me. Since the corporate office likes to torture us, I was setting a new promotion in addition to helping customers return stuff. Oh and since one of my coworkers was sick, I ended up going in at 7am instead of 10am and had to do a large part of the promo set by myself while helping customers to return stuff. Oh and then our group leader called at 1130 to find out if I was done with the promo set yet. :rolleyes: Things got better after my other coworker came in at noon. Next 3 days off. I might sleep for all of it. ---

I was another worker, but at a fun job. The local science center runs day camps over the break, and I’m one of the counselors. ---

I took my kids shopping: all day. I was up at 6:45 AM and got back at like 6:15 tonight. Crazy busy. But I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. They enjoyed it immensely. ---

I used to go visit my auntie in Toronto for Boxing Day when I was small. Here in the US, we don’t do Boxing Day officially. Sometimes there are after Christmas sales, but that’s about it. ---
