So while I was at work the other day I was talking to fellow co-works and a scenario ensued that I tried a bit of physical comedy. I can’t remember the situation or anything, but I pulled out the box knives we carry and pretended to slit my wrists and was like “Ooh if that happened just kill me now”. Later that night while typing I notice my wrist hurts, and apparently I DID actually cut myself a smidge. I say to myself "That’s the last time I slit my wrists for comedy. Hey, that’s a good band name. “Slitting Wrists for Comedy” So join the fun doper nation…What band names have YOU created?? ---

Roosevelt Cabbagestalk and the Hydrocephalic Presbyterians I’ve often said “Band name!” after a felicitous phrase popped up on the SDMB, but those instances don’t seem to have been enshrined in the search engine. ---

A running joke on Dave Barry’s blog ([http://blogs.herald.com/dave\_barrys\_blog/](http://blogs.herald.com/dave_barrys_blog/)) is WBAGNFARB, or “would be a good name for a rock band.” Barely a day goes by where a choice phrase plucked from some source is not designated so, or some variation thereof. For example, there are two today, one is “Vaguely Disturbing Name For A Rock Band” (_Suckling Monkeys)_ and the other is “a good name for a older rock band” (_Podgy Round the Waist_). So, I have none of my own to offer, but am familiar with the concept. 😃 ---

Oh yes, by no means is this an original thread. I have heard “band name!” for years after things…I just finally came up with one on my own and figured I’d make a thread about it to see if people have had some gems in their time. ---

In college, a guy I know insisted that **Big Dick and the Four Skins** would be the perfect name for an up and coming musical act. Not sure if I agreed but evidently the name -for me at least- stuck. ---

My daughter who loves animals found out about the [Tasmanian tiger](http://www.wildlifetasmania.com/images/tasmanian_tiger.jpg)—she told me it was the only vicious marsupial. You guessed it: The Vicious Marsupials would be my band’s name. Also once in yoga class, the teacher wanted us to pay attention to a certain set of mirrors in the studio. He told us they were “The Mirrors of Concern”. another great rock band name. ---

In on of the episodes of _Parks and Recreation,_ the dude who broke his legs by falling in the pit, said to the journalist that he’s in a band called the **Three Skins** ; they were the **Four Skins** until the bassist dropped out. Anyway, I’ve come up with many just because every now and then I’ll say or hear a weird combination of words that happen to roll off the tongue. One of my favorites: **Wookie Crossbow.** ---

I think that Dave Barry’s been doing the “Band Name!” thing for YEARS. He may have created it (pop-culture-wise).
