Boycott Star Trek 2

So this Kirk lives years after the old Kirk even though the parallel universe did not occur until his birth? Please explain.

And thus there will be no peace.

I’ll remember this well…

Ahem. Transwarp has been discovered and rediscovered at least a half-dozen times in the Trekverse, most notably by the Borg (whose technology was introduced into the 23rd c. by way of the Nerada and Ambassador Spock’s ship).

Whoa-hooo-whooaaa! Waiiiiit a sec… Time travel? In a Star Trek movie?!

I heard a rumor that Spock built C-3PO and has a lot of midichlorians!

“This isn’t another Kirk case, is it? I hate Kirk cases.”

Okay. That’s just… illogical.

what? next you’ll tell me that Uhura is his sister -

If you’re not going to take this seriously…

I know all that; it’s why I’m embittered about the whole Star Trek thing.

I guess what I really want is an alternate timeline in my own life, where Gunsmoke lasted three years, and Star Trek lasted twenty (and I got to watch it).

Anybody got any red matter?

I want one where Adam West played Captain Kirk while William Shatner played Bruce Wayne.

That would be AWESOME!

Oh, we so have to make that one happen!

He means that Scotty Prime came up with transwarp after every incarnation of Star Trek. You do remember that both Spock and Scotty were alive during TNG, right?

I agree with Airk; this is getting insane. How can anyone get their panties in a bind over plot holes after watching Star Trek for over 40 years? Isn’t everyone used to them by now?

Why is it so hard to believe that Carol Marcus was such a firecracker 20 years before Wrath of Khan? Here’s what Bibi Besch looked like in 1972.

Who says the Admiral Archer Scotty alluded to is the same guy from Enterprise? It could just as well be his son or some other relative.

How did they dispense with Ponn Farr? Kirk doesn’t even get laid in the movie, and you expect to catch Spock on his seven year cycle?

The biggest plot hole to me is one I never see anyone mention: Bruce Greenwood is way too old to be Pike. Him and Kirk are supposed to be “about the same age”, and the new timeline shouldn’t have changed that. But oh well. Plot hole or not, Greenwood was awesome. I can’t believe people let shit like this ruin a movie for them.

Are they? Kirk was around 34, very young for his position (I believe it was noted during TOS that he was the youngest “Starship Captain” in Starfleet), and Pike had been in that same position ~11 years earlier, so I put Pike at least 15 years older than Kirk.

I saw a number of inconsistencies with TOS that the “timeline shift” didn’t cover (though they didn’t affect my opinion of the movie) and this one escaped me.

I just happened to watch the movie again last night, and the Kobayashi Maru sequence is a half hour into the movie, so you missed quite a bit before that.

Heck, that means he missed Thor deriding the name Tiberius!

Let me show you something that will make you feel young as when the world was new…

A forbidden website? Yeah, that takes me back…
