# Boycotts

Has a boycott ever worked? I recall there was one of Disney which did not, but am wondering, its the perfect example of the people holding the power, excluding a monopoly of course.

Apparently the [Taco Bell boycott](http://www.pcusa.org/fairfood/history.htm) was successful.

After a quick glance at at [this list](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_boycotts#Historical_milestones), I’d say that these two:

[ul][li] by African Americans during the U.S. civil rights movement, late 1950s and 1960s (especially the Montgomery bus boycott).[/li][li] the academic boycott of South Africa by a large part of the world’s countries during its apartheid period.[/ul][/li][/quote]

seem to have had some effect.
