Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is full of naff lines, usually delivered by someone having more fun than anyone being paid deserves to have. Here’s a highlight: RAIN (apologising to Shao Kahn for a mistake): This will _never_ happen again. _SHAO KAHN smites Rain in the chest with a huge iron hammer, hurling him to a fiery death in a pit of flames._ SHAO KAHN: It is true that this will never happen again. It is also true that I need a new general… Thank you, Brian Thompson. Only you could make that line work. ---

How about “Now **this** is pod racing!” – when the kid is flyin’ a _freakin’ spaceship!_ In the novelization of _SW ep 1: TPM_, that line is rendered as “This is **much better than** pod racing!” Which makes a lot more sense. My suspicion is that Lucas originally intended the line to be the same as what’s in the novelization, but changed it because he thought that denigrating pod racing would cut into the sales for the pod racing video game. ---

Velcro. Next to the Walkman and Tab it is the coolest invention of the 20th century! from _Girls Just Want To Have Fun_ I don’t know if this qualifies as a bad movie quote, but whever we are doing movie quotes I always have to throw this one in. ---

But take this one in context… Helen Hunt (very young and beautiful in the movie) is saying this as she takes her schoolgirl skirt off (on a bus, no less) and flips it over to reveal that it’s a leather miniskirt on the other side. Bearing that in mind, velco really is the best thing to happen to the 20th century! 😃 ---

_Star Crash…_ wow! I saw that when I was, like, SIX and I IMMEDIATELY knew it was appalling. Didn’t they have a go at lightsabres? Only they were crap? Morpheus had a lot of very poor lines in the 2nd or 3rd Matrix movies, possibly both. It’s one thing to be a passionately driven believer, it’s another to go on and on about it till you become a caricature of yourself. ---
