There was an early episode where they found an underground pool of fresh water. Between that and the constant heavy rainstorms the island gets, there should be plenty of water. The pilot jokes that the Howells have what they consider to be just enough clothes for three hours. As has been pointed out, at the end of the glue episode, the entire boat breaks apart. One episode explains that “the locals” have known for a long time that, for some reason, the tides tend to take people to the island. Also, there’s a convenient excuse in most cases; for example, when the South American dictator appears, he does tell people about them, but nobody believes him and they stage a counter-coup to get him out. A surfer manages to make it back to the mainland? Oh,wait, at the last minute, he hit his head on a rock and has amnesia. On the other hand, you have a point; for example, when they made the movie and it ended up winning the Palm d’Or at Cannes, you would think that somebody would have recognized either Ginger or the Howells. In the episode with whichever of the Gabors was on, she does say that she met them, but the location is in her diary, “in plain English…translated from Hungarian.” In the one with the radio show contestant, nobody other than Gilligan saw, or heard, a helicopter approach the island. Also, the lagoon shouldn’t be that deep; why don’t they try finding the raft they tried leaving on that sank when everybody but Gilligan had a bag of gold hidden on it? > [@kenobi\_65](#): > > > [@Thudlow\_Boink](#): > > > > What disclaimer is this? That one likely hasn’t aged well (not only because of the stereotype, but because the Japanese sailor was played by an Italian-American actor), as well as the various episodes depicting native tribes and headhunters. ---

Weirdly, there was a Japanese soldier still hiding out until several years after the end of Gilligan’s Island was over. But he was actually Japanese, not Italian-American ---

In the second pilot (the one that was aired), the radio newscaster reporting the disappearance of the _Minnow_ said Ginger was still wearing the dress from her nightclub act when she reportedly got on the boat. She must have been snorting coke if she went straight from an all-night gig to a three-hour tour at nine or ten in the morning. Tina Louise was in an episode of _ **Married … with Children** _ back in the '90s. Sometimes they even fell out of the sky, like Gilligan’s French Vanilla ice cream. I hate those stupid Woke disclaimers and mute them whenever they come on.
