Clear goal of the tournament so far (after 2.5 games). Wow. You rarely see a header that kind of chips over the keeper’s head like that. ---

Well, their play 4 years ago was good, and I think that they are still technically good (their “tiki-taka” was flawless at times). However, the players are not getting any younger, and most of the team is the same as 4 years ago. They are not going to be able to run as fast or have reflexes as quick as 4 years ago. Sometimes experience is a bonus… But I feel that they should have put more new blood in the squad. Also the Spanish team, historically, have had a bad tendency: if things go wrong for them, they tend to get nervous, make mistakes and choke 😕 Disclaimer: I am Spanish. ---

Somehow after a vaguely competent turn on the team, that smarmy, clueless, arrogant, jackass has become the guy who is sought out for an opinion every time anything has something to do with soccer. ---

Yep, but that jusr underlines the point one player retires and despite all their talent everywhere else in the field it makes too much of a difference because they haven’t adapted at all. I think Spain’s problem is everyone knows what to expect and everyone’s had about 5 or 6 years to work out a way of playing against the ultimate tika-taka team. Spain on the other hand haven’t worked out any other way of playing for when they need it. ---
