Y’all know, I live rurally. No door dash or Uber. Traveling to eat is a lengthy ride in any direction (no, I don’t live at the center of the universe. I just think I do! 😄 ). We’ve had well pump issues. This morning the water was off while the guys replaced a part on the pump. This has been the hang up. Getting the part needed. Mid-dau says no cooking this morning. So breakfast was cereal and a banana. The troops were restless. They demanded pancakes. She says “take your problems to a professional”. Well, the thing is, you see we have no real breakfast restaurants anywhere near. Eh, you can go to Micky Ds. or Sonic. I’m sure other fast food places. But that ain’t ever a good choice for breakfast. IMHO. What is a body to do? ---

I’m a happy refugee who escaped from behind the orange curtain, but I have to admit no place in the world has nailed breakfast dining like the beach cities of Orange County, CA. I don’t even eat breakfast anymore…except when I am in proximity to Sugar Shack or Harbor House or Cappy’s or… ---

We’re in rural New Hampshire, and there’s several places nearby that make breakfast sandwiches, bagels or burritos. Unless you have your heart set on a full-on sit-down breakfast, maybe something like that would scratch your itch. ---

I’m totally ordering that thing I’ve seen on TV to make breakfast sandwiches “In a flash”. Next time the well pump decides to give up the ghost we’ll be prepared. (Alas, it’ll never break down again. Hey! Wait..) ---

There are some great tips in the USS Abraham Lincoln thread on resupplying: helicopters, Grumman C2 and Osprey VTOL airlifts; heck, a couple of bundles parachuted out of a Cessna might do it for emergency rations. Think big, Beck! ---

You live more or less near Camden, AR, right? I would have bet any amount of money that Camden had a Waffle House, after hearing my best friend’s tales of debauchery, insanity, and general craziness from growing up and going to high school there in the late 80s/early 90s. But apparently it does not. ---

Camden is dead. Doesn’t even have a Burger king. Mickey D’s hangs on because it’s close to Walmart. I live nearer Magnolia. And a good ride from Hope. Hope has a very pitiful Waffle Inn. And loads of fast food. I think COVID shut down most of the local joints and just a few bounced back. Staying mostly lunch and dinner places. ---

That described things when I lived in Las Cruces, or Albuquerque NM. Here in white-bread Colorado Springs? Sadly short on good breakfast burritos, though they’re a bit more available south in Pueblo, where there’s a major chile producing area. But we have a plethora of breakfast places, from Waffle House, to Village Inn, to a surviving Mimi’s (last I checked) as well a bunch of fast casual places. Just relatively few of the greasy diners I also enjoyed. And no decent Tex-Mex, much lest New Mexican style places. Thankfully, I can cook! And buy at least one bushel of roasted chiles annually. ---
