Breaking Bad 24 May

Yeah, Jane’s dad is like the gun on the mantle – you know we’re gonna see him again, and it won’t be at Jane’s funeral.

Jane’s Dad can wipe out Jesse with just a thought, being he is John Delancie who is Q from Star Trek. He’s almost omniscient. Although he is in the dark on it was Jane that turned Jessie onto Heroin.

I bow to your superior knowledge of junkies and the criminal use of heroin. I guess Jessie’s not in any legal trouble even though the first scene of the preview had him being visited by someone sent by Saul. And why wouldn’t Q, err Jane’s dad, follow through on his previous phone call to the police about Jessie’s drug use and that the drug parephernalia was in his apartment. You know he’ll check in the morning when she doesn’t show up for rehab as promised. That was the only reason why he didn’t previously follow through on his phone call to the cops. Let’s just see what unfolds next week.

He didn’t follow up with the cops because it was a bluff from the get go and Jane knew it. Q is an abuser himself and feels really guilty about it and he is still using alcohol at the minimum.

I don’t think Jane’s dad was bluffing. It looked like he was at the end of his rope. Seeing Jane with a guy like Jesse was all he needed to do the tough love.

Having a beer makes him an abuser? :dubious: Or did I miss something?

Walt knew he could have saved Jane, but letting her die solved a few problems for him. The first being his black mail threat. With her dead, no chance. Second, Walt knew Jane was screwing with Jessie’s perception and focus. With her out, it will be a wake up call for Jessie to clean up and Walt won’t have to worry about his screw ups.

Great show.

At this point, Walt has no need for Jesse at all. With Urkel now handling distribution, and Walt having perfected his synthesis process, what purpose does Jesse serve except to be an unskilled lab assistant?

I predict an imminent breakup.

This is where my thoughts were going, I’ve been thinking that Jesse will either end up dead or in rehab by the end of the season.

My understanding is that Walt considers Jesse family, and is genuinely concerned for his well-being.

Walt is constantly vacillating between two personalities: the loving family-man and the angry, self-indulgent drug lord. Both are legitimate facets of his personality, and I don’t think he’s half as dastardly as some people are making him out to be.

Walt doesn’t need him for the work, but I think Jesse’s more than a lab assistant to Walt. Part of his caring is self interest, but there’s a smidgen of something else there too. Maybe not affection, but close. Too bad Walt hasn’t seen the side of Jesse that we’ve seen.

Jesse can’t die, but Jane’s death might push him into rehab.

Does anyone else think Walt does need an assistant? Someone to share the guilt?

I predict Jessie is going to find out Walt was in the room and could have saved her. Things will get really bad at that point. Walt just experienced the birth of one life and the death of another. Then again, he’s got his daughter now, and who knows how far he’ll go for her now that she’s born and he’s alive to see her.

Are we supposed to be talking openly about spoilers in this thread without using spoiler boxes? I thought that was bad form.

Saul has a monetary interest in Walt and Jesse’s business. He could be sending a guy to Jesse for any number of reasons. If Jesse were in legal trouble, I’m guessing we’d see Jesse in Saul’s office, or in jail talking to Saul, not sitting on his stoop moping.

When Jesse wakes up and finds Jane dead, after he freaks out and tries to revive her to no avail, the first thing he’s going to do before he calls the cops is to get rid of the drug paraphernalia. He’s kind of dumb but he’s not THAT dumb. Now, if he’s still unconscious and Jane’s dad keys in and finds them like that, then yeah, Jesse could be in trouble. But if Jesse finds her, I doubt he’ll be in legal trouble. I don’t see any way in which Walt would be affected, though.

Yep, hence the conversation about his “nephew” with Jane’s dad and what can you do…

What I’m anxious to know is whether Walt is cold enough to just leave Jesse to wake up next to his dead girlfriend.

Walt can’t stay with Jesse, but he might go back to the house in the morning to be there when he wakes up. That could put Jane’s dad and Walt together.

I think not giving Jesse the money is the first genuinely nice thing I’ve seen Walt do for Jesse. I thought Walt did not care about Jesse but this episode showed that he at least cares a little.

The bar scene was a little contrived, but I’ll let it slide.

I never know what is going to happen with this show. I love it.

At this point, does Walt even need to cook any more meth? I thought the sellout to Chicken-man got him enough money to quit.

He’s never going to quit. The money is his rationalization. He gets off on being a drug lord.

If this lasts more than a season or two more, I will bow to you.

No, having a beer does not make him an alcohol abuser, but I think you missed that Q was one of the attendees at one of the AA meetings, and it may very well have been a NA meeting. Alcohol is a mind altering substance and a big no-no for people in an NA program. Or so I understand. Thus the dripping self-loathing in the self-introduction to Walt lying to his wife: “Well played”. Walt loves lying to Skylar, it would have been simpler to say he stopped in at a bar and hadn’t found a place with the diapers yet.

I’m now reminded that Walt purposely made Walt Jr sick to the point of barfing in a previous episode. Contrast with his daughter sleeping on her side and Jane barfing to death.

I thought it was more contrived that Walt walked in at the exact moment that Jane was dying. What are the chances?
