In other Big Ships Gone Bad news, the U.N. is still trying to scrape up the last of the money needed to prevent a decaying giant oil tanker off Yemen from breaking up and dumping 1.1 million barrels of oil into the sea.
At some point, it’ll become more cost effective to have better pilots.
I suggest going in the middle of the canal, headed straight. Maybe I qualify?
Walt Disney solved the problem half a century ago. The canal should be like the Pirates of the Caribbean; guided along by rubber guard rails and rollers before being set adrift in the Mediterranean or Red Sea.
Perhaps while “It’s a Small World” is blared on loudspeakers at the ships?
All levity aside, isn’t much of the issue caused by high winds hitting 30+ meters of freeboard+containers along a 350-meter-long ship? Makes it hard to steer a narrow path in such situations - and the Disney solution might just end up capsizing the ship.
