Breaking news: terrorists attack French publisher, 11 dead.

As long as we’re just “putting out questions”, ever hear about a work of alleged art called “Piss Christ”? Bottle of urine with a crucifix in it. Or the picture of the Virgin Mary made of various shades of elephant poo? No? Then shut up.

Also, speaking of molesting children, and “just putting out questions”, is it true that you still lure little kids into an unmarked van with promises of candy and toys? Because, hey, I’m not accusing you, just asking questions.

Holy shit fuck that guy. Seriously, that was the most stupid, self-righteously assholish piece of work I’ve seen that wasn’t written by yours truly!

Pretty much this. In Germany, the “problem” turks aren’t the first-generation immigrants - they keep their heads down, work hard, and are generally pleasant people. It’s the second and third generation.

You may be several orders of magnitude shy. Unless one of the terrorists died and I missed the memo.

i am an indian living in india. saw comments of an Indian ‘muslim-unity’ group on facebook in hindi n english. most are supporting n showering praises on the attackers. one muslim political leader came out with reward equivalent of $8 million.

and Indian muslims are supposed to be moderate, lol. what happened in france would have happened in India as well if someone drew those cartoons. in fact in india, those cartoonists would be jailed n the newspaper would be shut down…

Goes to show that this so-called religion of peace is cancer where it is present in this world

Also, as said above to Nema98, “Charlie Hebdo” went after absolutely everybody.

Jews, Christians, Moslems, Buddhists, Atheists, every religion and every belief, every government, every structure of power, no matter what it was, was fair game for some of the most extreme, cruel, over-the-top and (indeed) tasteless mocking. “Satire” doesn’t begin to qualify what “Charlie Hebdo” was doing.

But I guess you want proof, a cite, something to show that “Charlie Hebdo” was not just singling Islam. OK, here it is. But some cannot be put with a direct link, because they are most definitely NOT Safe For Work.

(1) Cover about the issue of gay marriage in France, with Jesus Christ fucking God Father up the ass, and with the Holy Ghost up his own ass.

http: //img.qz .com/2015/01/ charliehebdo31.jpg?w=640

So far as I know, no offended christians went and shot up the redaction after this particular image was printed.

(2) A more generic cover, wherein the title says “ALL RELIGIONS, TO THE TOILET”, with the Gospel, the Koran and the Torah printed in toilet paper ready for use (this was drawn about the “Piss Christ” thing).

(3) They also went after political targets, like with this cover – a caricature of Marine Le Pen gleefully looking at a bunch of drowned would-be immigrants who died trying to cross the Mediterranean into Europe, and whose bodies were thrown by the sea onto the shore, with the text: “Lampedusa – The Mediterranean applies the program of the National Front”.

(4) And not only the far-right politicians – They have also critiziced sharply, for instance, the current French president, François Hollande, from the Socialist Party. Here you have a drawing of Hollande with the title “What is Hollande good for? [He is good just for] a bookmark!”, where he is shown with his dick caught between the pages of a “tell-all” book written by his ex (title: “Thanks for the moment”).

These are the ones I found within 30 seconds of googling. There are plenty, plenty more.

You are fundamentally wrong about the NI Troubles.

Religion was simply a crude pointer to which side people probably were on. The fight was over union with the UK and Irish nationalism. Unionists being mostly protestant and Nationalist being mostly catholic although many of the Nationalist heroes from the past are not catholic (Emmet, Wolfe Tone, Parnell etc. ).

Somebody may have been killed or really hurt for painting “Fuck the Pope” but only in the sense that they’d have been shown to be most likely from the other side and were in an area they should not have been doing something that showed what side they were most likely on.

Like back in the day myself with my Dublin accent would not have been welcome in many areas. Not because I believed in transubstantiation but because I wasn’t one of them.

And now on with the mess in Paris.

I think Stormfront is the message board you are looking for. Down the hall, third door on the right.

Today’s Postillion headline is pretty great. It’s a picture of a hairy bum, and the headline translates to: “The terrorists have won: we can’t tell you which prophet this hairy asshole belongs to.”

Postillion being a famous German satire newspaper.

The Onion’s take is a bit more somber, but also worth looking at.

In Der Postillon there is an even more pointed article…

(Title and opening paragraph translated from the website):

*“Attack on Charlie Hebdo quite great for Islamists and Islam haters”

Paris (dpo) - Islamists and Islam haters around the world currently feel once more confirmed in their view of the world in the face of a terrible attack on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo with at least 12 dead. While Islamists are especially proud to have spread fear and terror again, Islam haters enjoy the perfect moment to rush into the social networks shouting against minorities and immigration. Both sides can look forward to large audiences. "*

Sharp.

Yes, they mock whatever was making the headlines at the time… while keeping a steady stream of the ol’ standards rolling. Which, in this case, is islamophobic shit (as of the last 10 or so years, anyway).

Some writers and cartoonists weren’t that bad about it (I’m genuinely sad Cabu died, he was one of the few genuinely good persons I’m aware of), but on the whole the journal was, paradoxically, on the one hand raging against racists and bigots, but on the other spewing a torrent of some of the vilest “Islam is terrible, Muslims are horrible people” crap I’ve ever seen.

I would also note that satirizing the Pope in a 90% Catholic country where christians wield a lot of political and moral power is not exactly the same tone and subtext as satirizing Islam in a country that recently banned burqas Just Because (also hijabs in schools and public offices) and where Muslims represent a very small and somewhat oppressed minority (though it’s always difficult to delineate where racial, cultural, economic/class and in our case religious oppressions end or begin, natch. See : Ferguson).

Which is par for the course. First generations immigrants know, from the get go, that they’re in for hard times. Immigration and being foreign is never easy, and the simple administrative hell journey that is obtaining a visa would be enough to clue in the naive. They expect to have it tough, while at the same time accepting it because the sum total is probably better than where they come from.
Second generation immigrants grow up in the host culture, in which schools they’re taught that hey, everybody’s equal and special and so forth (especially in France where we’re all about that *égalité fraternité *business… on paper…); but still being ostracized and Othered. They’re not from over there, but they aren’t allowed to be from down here either.

And now the third/fourth gens also see that their parents never were ; which kind of puts a damper on their own hopes. So they get pissed off. Shouldn’t they be ?

I am not racist, humans of all ‘races’ are equal. I hate the so-called religion of peace because I see it at work in India n all over the world on a daily basis. You should hate it too.

And this is why we can thank liberals for pushing their fantasy world onto the children and thus turning people into terrorists.

Your apparent willingness to lump all muslims into an arbitrary pool of supporters of religious violence marks you as something of a bigot. Stormfront is a haven for bigots, such as yourself. I suggest you might find a more receptive audience there. Depending on how brown you are, that is; they seem to think that lack of melanin is a useful defining feature, for some reason.

I was talking abt that Facebook group where apparently most of the posts were supportive of the attack. And about the leader talking abt rewarding the attackers

The religion of peace in whichever secular country it is present tends to create problems. In India too, it is as much, if not more of a problem, as it is in any other country. We can’t say that some harmless, moderate sort of version is being followed here. In fact I have difficulty understanding how people convince themselves to want to call themselves even a moderate follower of such of a faith while living in a secular nation.

pat, pat whosagootroll ? whosagootroll ? Youare, yesyouare, coochiecoochie.

Hands up, don’t shoot.

Damn. I was hoping to wake up today and learn they’d been caught. At least they seem to have fled into a forest and hopefully won’t kill anyone else.

I’m curious about the third person, the driver. The news is focused on the two brothers, and all they say about the 18yo is he turned himself in and may have been at school at the time. I wonder how they ID’d him? I thought he was the one who had left his ID in the getaway car but now I don’t know. The ID may have belonged to one of the brothers. If the third person wasn’t who they thought it was, then where is the third attacker?

So, you’re now claiming you’re not a racist.

Glad to hear that.

Is that why you refer to Muslims as “Pakis”?

Erick Erickson compares firing of bigoted Atlanta fire chief to Charlie Hebdo attack.

If you put a member of each side in a locked room and forced them to debate they would not primarily debate religion. The debate would almost exclusively centre on politics, nationalism and identity. Sure, religion is bound up in these respective identity but it was not the cause of the conflict.[/QUOTE

Agreed. Just like the Middle East, particularly Lebanon, Israel/Palestine, and Iraq.

Muslims aren’t a race.
