To be fair, I did see a barely-funny comedian on YouTube that was mocking, gently, some of the cultural differences between Muslims of different backgrounds. It was still cultural, though, not religious.

You asked for Muslim self-satire. I provided self-satire, by a Muslim, of his Muslim culture/the Muslim world (among others). A lot of it having to do with religion, directly or indirectly.
In part 1 he mocks the fact that Moroccan royalty is sacrosanct (because historically linked with religion), then the double standard many Muslims have re:homosexuality (i.e. passive is the worst thing, active is a peccadillo). In part 2 he criticizes terrorists for making him look bad by association, then pantomimes a rabid islamist spokesperson acting like a nutcase and finally does a bit on suicide bombers, equating them with Paris Hilton as “incomprehensible albeit shameful part of our respective cultures”.
I’ll agree that none of it is as biting satirical commentary on the Muslim world as a cartoon of Muhammad fucking a pig’s head (as seen in Charlie, natch), but you can’t have everything.
A lot of the “free press” posturing has to do with three facts
a) The dead journalists were white and/or European and/or Western culture. There’d be no thread if someone had killed the poor, black, atheist journalists at the “Ougadaoogoo Gazette” for offending the mayor
b) The guys at CH ofended beliefs that many/most at the SDMB find silly. If they had ofended ideas that are sacred for them they would not have accepted the very same argument they are profering.
A nice thing about religious satire is it demonstrates to kids (like me) that God doesn’t actually strike people down with lightning bolts when he’s blasphemed. I remember mom basically forbidding us to watch The Life of Brian because it was blasphemous, but around that same time I was figuring out God doesn’t give a shit, and is probably laughing along with the rest of us.
None of that, except the irrelevant part about the Morroccan King, was in the clip you linked, that I saw. Maybe you used the wrong clip.
And I’m not trying to convince you of anything. It’s your job to convince me. Either way, I don’t give a fuck, because your opinion is inconsequential.

I don’t think so. The same day (or maybe a day later) that the France events transpired, Boko Haram (the Nigerian Islamist terrorists) slaughtered, reportedly, 2000 civilians. That’s two THOUSAND civilians. Men, women, children. In fact, I think mostly old men, women and children, since they were killing the hindmost as the people were fleeing from the town.
I was the only one that posted about it on SDMB.

(There is currently a claim making the rounds that the Wahhabists of Saudi Arabia have actually invested a few billion dollars in promoting Wahhabism in other countries. Since a couple of people repeating that claim are not always trustworthy, I have not had a chance to verify it, but if true, that would provide an interesting aspect to this whole discussion, along with an opening to oppose the nastier elements without just trying to kill them.)

And no, Boko Haram murdering one person in Baga is not “horrendous”, it is an everyday occurrence in Nigeria. A massacre of 2000 people is quite a bit beyond horrendous. But not one mention of it on this forum (yes, including me). Like it didn’t happen.
