A good chunk of the breakthrough infections (of any sort) are likely to be among those with weak immune systems. In other words, if you got infected despite the vaccine, then it’s likely that you also would have been re-infected if, instead of the vaccine, you had a first infection.
Seriously? We want to outlive our pets instead of them spending their final years wondering why they aren’t in their home.
My dumbass covidiot husband had a quad bypass and is dependent on medication to live. I was amazed he managed to survive the first infection, doing it twice almost makes me think there really is a god. (Probably Isis, considering his love of and kindness to cats.)
Honestly, I don’t really care if the evidence says that he doesn’t need a booster, he’s going to get as many as I do if only to reinforce his promise to do so.
If the natural immunity is so powerful, how did the vaccine weaken it? Did the vaccine cut the immunity’s long hair while it was sleeping?
I’m assuming that were fully-vaccinated less than a year ago right? And within that time, they got covid twice? That’s gotta be a record.
Here’s from the Oregon Health Authority’s daily email. It looked like it would be of interest in this thread.
OHA releases new COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough report
OHA’s most recent update on COVID-19 breakthrough cases, released today, found that 71.3% of the 4,134 reported COVID-19 cases between Nov. 21 and Nov. 27 occurred in unvaccinated people.
There were 1,186 breakthrough cases, accounting for 28.7% of all cases.
The average age of the breakthrough cases during that period was 45. Twenty-eight breakthrough cases involved residents of care facilities, senior living communities or other congregate care settings. There were 45 cases in people aged 12 to 17.
To date, there have been 45,545 COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough cases in Oregon. The average age of all cases is 47. Breakthrough cases have been reported in all 36 counties.
Cases of COVID-19 are far more common in unvaccinated people. The report shows that the rate of COVID-19 in unvaccinated people is four times higher than in vaccinated people.
To date, 4.4% of all vaccine breakthrough cases have been hospitalized and 1.2% have died. The average age of vaccinated people who died was 81.
This study of 353,326 previously infected showed only 4 severe re-infections and no deaths
After looking at the appendix here:
https://www.nejm.org/doi/suppl/10.1056/NEJMc2108120/suppl_file/nejmc2108120_appendix.pdf
It shows that 87,547 vaxxed were excluded :
“…These included 59,937 (68.5%) individuals vaccinated with BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) and
27,610 (31.5%) individuals vaccinated with mRNA-1273 (Moderna)”
So 353,326 - 87,547 = 265,779 overall in the analysis
1,339 were reinfected
See page 11 of the PDF for a chart that shows this.
Yes.
They are all in their 70s.
Not many symptoms but the test came back positive each time.
