I’m amazed it didn’t raise higher in the carts than it did. > > “Year of the Cat” is one of my all-time favorite songs. Lovely musically, and it paints such a vivid picture lyrically. I’m partial to [Time Passages (also by Al Stewart)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55KDyjFCzYg). Some other “breezy” additions to my music collection. [Northern Lights - Death Cab for Cutie](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBdh20C287Y) [My Tears Ricochet - Taylor Swift](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzzT2M_5OSg) [Here’s Where The Story Ends - The Sundays](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHsip5xOenQ) ---

> [@digs](#): > > Well, a common denominator is that they’re all ballads played much softer than what the band’s capable of. > > Compare… well, I was going to list each artist’s “usual” fare ("Compare _Eternal Flame_ to _Walk Like an Egyptian;_ or _Amanda_ to _Rock’n’Roll Band."),_ but that’d make a long post of all-too-evident songs. > > Hmmm, how do you feel about _Sister Christian_ or _Beth?_ Beth is mu 32nd favorite song (I numbered my top 40). But Sister Christian doesn’t really fit. And it’s not really a comparison of other songs. For example, for the Carpenters “the song” is Touch Me When We’re Dancing. The songs are soft but “fuller”. ---

> [@digs](#): > > Hmmm, how do you feel about _Sister Christian_ or _Beth?_ Whenever I hear “Sister Christian,” I remember a line from one of my favorite TV shows, _Pushing Daisies_: “‘Sister Christian’ is nothing but a heavy-petting power ballad.” 😉 ---

Listen to this on headphones in a darkened room with your eyes closed. You’ll feel the presence of the drowned mariners’ souls.
