Perhaps more to the point is how so many female scientists hide their gender by using their initials to indicate their authorship of scientific papers. “J.K. Jones”, say, rather than “Jane”. The presumption being that male scientists are more likely to take a paper seriously if they don’t know the author is female. I think they are probably right, though I have no idea how to prove that. Scientifically. ---

I just want to say hang in there Bricker. I don’t have the time or desire to argue conservative thinking to the 95% liberal SDMB, but I hope you keep doing it. It never hurts them to hear opposing viewpoints. You would think you’d be safe linking to a real news outlet, but as most of us have found out, you can’t believe everything you read even when it’s from reputable sources. Doesn’t mean unions are squeaky clean. ---

Maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t see John Mace as a “conservative poster”, he strikes me as very centrist, and I see it as a sign of how left this board is that he is often cited as a conservative. ETA: Also, count me among Bricker’s supporters - not that anyone cares! -prodicus, Canadian lefty ---

We libertarians are often confused with conservatives on this MB. And sometimes even as :eek: centrists! 😉 I have a lot of very left-leaning views, but I’d like to see us get rid of the Minimum Wage, too. Ain’t nothin’ “centrist” about that! They see themselves as fair and impartial adjudicators of truth, but their behavior shows them simply to be partisan hacks. I could make up all sorts of fascinating scenarios about how you see yourself, and some of them might even be accurate, but I fail to see how this would be relevant to any sort of legitimate discussion on here.
