If I understand the circumstances of this crime, these weren’t ready-made commercially prepared edibles. They were conventional catered recipes adulterated ad-hoc at the event. Seems like there’d be no opportunity to structure the recipes to hide the flavor. But guests at an event are usually too polite or too busy to refuse to eat what’s provided just because it tastes a little funny. How does event-centered food poisoning happen? Because people at an event eat what’s set before them, especially if they’re loosened up a bit with alcohol. ---

OTOH, back on the ‘80’s I once ate a small amount of unburnt marijuana when I was at work, expecting to _maybe_ get a slight buzz. I got so completely and obviously ripped that I had to fake a migraine and go home. The migraine gave me an excuse to put on my sunglasses, because my eyes were REALLY red. I know it’s not supposed to work, but sometimes it does. ---

AFAIK, even in Canada it’s not legal to assault someone, even with a legal thing. ---

Re: The bodycam video: Based on that footage, I have no problem believing the bride and the caterer did this on their own, and the groom had no idea what was going on. When the officer was talking to the groom, the bride was standing to the side with a little grin on her face. She seemed completely fine letting him twist in the wind and bear the brunt of the questions, when she knew exactly what had happened. ---

I dunno how anyone could claim to deduce anything from that clip (apart from that the bride definitely does seem high). People react in all sorts of different ways in situations they’re not prepared for, and you can’t even see his face. Maybe he knew before the fact and helped plan it, maybe he knew after it had already started, maybe it was a complete surprise and he had nothing to do with it, that clip doesn’t say anything either way. ---
