# Brief ads appearing when I log in o'seas?

I’m currently on holiday in Bali (SE Asia) and when I come to the SDMB (automatically logging in from my bookmarks) I get some pop-up ads appearing. Now admittedly, they disappear pretty quickly too, but what would cause this?? FTR, I’m a charter member and was promised to NEVER see any ads at all!!
PS, this is not a complaint about the management of the board, just curious as to why it might happen, however fleetingly.

While others think about the technical answer, I’d like to offer a workaround.
I’m currently in western Pennsylvania where I am seeing zero ads. I’d be willing to swap places with you. Packing a suitcase now; let’s make this happen!

Does western PA have beaches, street-food like chicken satay and nasi goreng, beer for next to nothing and cheap accomodation?

I thin9the issue is that the ISP overseas gets hit by/subscribes to an advertising service.
